Title: Winter Snow II
Size: 70cm x 40cm
Medium: Etching
Margaret McClaughlin
Artist Status: Purchase
About This Work
These pieces, the last a pairing of Winter Snow II with a third in the
series, are etchings of the winter landscape of County Wicklow, its moods,
colours and seasonal changes. These pieces are etchings, though Margaret
uses a variety of printmaking media to capture a landscape at once peaceful,
exhilarating but also at times threatening . Margaret registers and overlays
several etched plates for every print, each with its own line and inking
to give a richly coloured image that invites the viewer to obtain a sense
of the peace and tension of this great landscape.
