About This Work
'Gafa' is taken from the series entitled, 'Primary Colours',
which began based upon tests for colour blindness. It comes late in the
series and the word is Irish for 'something held'; its companion piece
is called 'Land', which has maps of the border areas. The word 'Gafa'
is written in bold grey dots across the middle of the piece but is difficult
to find at first.
