About This Work
This piece was one of the outcomes of Katherine's commission work
with RHM Commercial LLP in which she encouraged the staff to use their
involvement with the Four Corners development in Belfast's Cathedral
Quarter to produce a series of photographs. The pieces are particularly
striking abstract images in strong colours wrapped on MDF board and hung
on a baton system in the company reception area.
Artist Background
Born in Northern Ireland in 1982. Katherine studied in Germany before
graduating in Fine and Applied Art from the University of Ulster in
2005. She was regarded as one of the finest students in her year group
and has since pursued a career as a professional artist, curating the
Mullan Gallery in Belfast where her work is also exhibited. Katherine
was commissioned by Arts & Business Northern Ireland to produce
work for RHM Commercial LLP, a new commercial property consultancy based
in Belfast, held a one year bursary with the Belfast Print Workshop
2005-2006, and is currently working on commission and purchase works
with Ulster Hospital's research department. She is primarily a printmaker,
working with photo-etching, silk screen printing and traditional etching
techniques, but also makes jewellery and is an accomplished painter.
